Cultural and Language Training

Cross-cultural training can help employees continue to connect to their culture and members of their respective communities. It can assist employees as they transition into new communities while still connecting with and meeting new people whom they have cultural similarities to. Below are some cultural centers that exists in Westchester County. Keep in mind that local municipalities could also have additional cultural centers that are smaller in nature but made up of local members of the community.

This organization seeks to marshal and centralize the rich heritage that is India, its extensive and colorful cultural diversity and give it a home here in Westchester.

Westchester Italian Cultural Center

Westchester Italian Cultural Center provides programs for people of all ages, all ethnicities, and from all walks of life. WICC reaches a broad audience and their members come from all over the tri-state area. WICC has welcomed more than 10,000 visitors since opening its doors on September 2007. WICC is unique in that they offer one cohesive and progressive Italian culture in a variety of different ways – through exhibits celebrating various artists, sculptors, scientists, and through language classes, films and lectures, concerts, culinary and wine events – and always as a warm and welcoming destination.

Alliance Francaise

Founded in 1962, AFW is the Westchester County, NY chapter of the Alliance Française. AFW offers a wide range of courses in the French language at all levels to all ages. AFW offers a variety of social and cultural events, including lectures, discussion groups, cooking classes, book clubs, French food and wine tastings and celebrations of Francophone holidays.

Chinese Language Program

CLP offers mommy and me, preschool, after-school programs, and a full immersion summer camp that surrounds children in the Mandarin (Chinese) language. At CLP young children naturally learn the Mandarin Language through interactive play, song, dance, drama, and games. CLP's unique method of teaching has proven a success as their students continue their lessons year after year with the joy of learning Mandarin.

German International School New York

The German International School New York is a Pre-K through Grade 12 college preparatory institution, which confers both the German Abitur and the New York State High School Diploma on its graduates. They challenge their students to take advantage of the rigorous academic instruction with its emphasis on critical thinking, as well as the multi-lingual, cross-cultural setting, to grow into socially and environmentally aware global citizens.

Pace University English Language Institute

The English Language Institute at Pace University offers a wide range of American English language programs. It offers intensive English language courses for people wanting to improve their general English, academic English and test preparation courses for students planning to study in an American university and business English and cross-cultural training courses for professionals.

Westchester Community College

Westchester Community College serves over 5,000 English as Second Language (ESL) students annually, more than any other educational institution in Westchester County. Six levels of ESL instruction are offered in their English Language Institute. Each level provides balanced instruction and active practice in all English language skills: listening, speaking (including pronunciation), standard grammar, reading, and writing. The college also offers regularly scheduled U.S. Citizenship Exam Preparation classes.

Element 46 Incubator

The new Element 46 Incubator program kicked off in 2019 to inspire and support entrepreneurial talent and the development of new businesses in the County. Nearly a hundred business leaders will serve as mentors to startups, offering their expertise, time, and support.
