Inaugural Westchester County Clean Energy Careers Job and Resource Fair Draws More Than 150 Attendees, Celebrates Opportunities for Employment & Impact

Westchester County, New York (April 29, 2024) – On April 3, The Westchester County Office of Economic Development and Sustainable Westchester hosted the County’s first-ever Clean Energy Careers Job and Resource Fair at Pace University in White Plains. The event drew more than 150 attendees, ranging from clean energy industry advocates, environmental leaders, and employers to job seekers and students.

The event started with welcoming remarks from Westchester County Executive George Latimer, Sustainable Westchester’s Executive Director Noam Bransom, and Pace University’s President, Marvin Krislov. Keynote speaker, Radina Valova, Vice President, Regulatory Program, Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC), energized the crowd with her presentation on the clean energy industry and opportunities for job seekers. Her keynote was followed by panel discussions focused on accessing the latest clean energy job training programs and highlighting which institutions – from government entities to the private sector and non-profits – are actively hiring candidates in this field. A second panel covered essential information about hiring opportunities. The event also included a job and resource fair, which was open to everyone from students interested in the growing clean energy sector to experienced professionals looking to pivot their skills to a new industry.

Westchester County Executive George Latimer said: “We received an overwhelmingly positive response to Westchester County’s inaugural Clean Energy Careers Job and Resource Fair. The companies who participated in this first-time event are forward-thinking, creative, and committed to the industry's success. We were pleased to be able to introduce them to job seekers whose skills could help to advance their efforts.”

Westchester County Director of Economic Development, Bridget Gibbons, said: “The Westchester County Clean Energy Careers Job and Resource Fair showcased the diversity of the industry and provided job seekers with access to both training and employment opportunities right here in Westchester. We are thankful to our partners at Sustainable Westchester for helping to make this event a great success and look forward to coming back with a bigger and even better event later this year.”
