Westchester County Office of Economic Development Hosts New York City Life Sciences & Economic Development Executives for Exclusive Tour of Center of Industry Excellence

Westchester County, New York (May 3, 2023) – On Thursday, April 27, 2023, the Westchester

County Office of Economic Development (OED) hosted an exclusive tour of the County’s dynamic life sciences cluster for members of New York City’s economic development and life sciences community. The tour, which featured speakers from BioInc@NYMC, Burke Neurological Institute, Clarapath, Leviant, New York Medical College, Regeneron, Retia Medical, Sapience Therapeutics, Westchester County Biosciences Accelerator and Westchester Medical Center, provided guests an opportunity to meet the groundbreakers and innovators who are driving Westchester’s life sciences sector forward.

Westchester County Executive George Latimer said: “Westchester is home to a thriving Life Science sector from globally leading organizations, to noted innovators and ground-breaking start-ups. There is a reason why so many leaders are looking at Westchester and trust that this where they will be able to thrive and change the world through their science and research. This should not be kept an industry secret – everyone in Westchester should hold as a point of pride just how great the resources, infrastructure, and talent that we have invested in and that are native to our County’s unique background – that have made all this possible, and which will only help to grow and scale this sector to record heights in the years to come.”

Westchester County Director of Economic Development Bridget Gibbons said: “Westchester County is a dominant force in New York City’s regional life sciences economy. Westchester’s life sciences community enjoys access to the nation’s largest talent pool, a collaborative business environment and can offer its employees an outstanding quality of life. Westchester County Director of Entrepreneurship and Innovation Deborah Novick said: “Westchester County’s life sciences community is powerful. We are home to enterprising startups, relocating companies who are in growth mode, and national firms who are setting the bar for industry excellence. Hosting our New York City counterparts for an insider’s look at what is happening in their backyard was an outstanding experience that paves the way for future collaboration.”

Following visits to Sapience Therapeutics, BioInc@NYMC, Clarapath, Leviant, Regeneron and Burke Neurological Institute, guests enjoyed a reception at Kanopi at the Opus Hotel in White Plains where they networked with members of the region’s life sciences and business communities.
