‘Frontiers in Diagnostics’ Shines Spotlight on Life Sciences Innovators Working with Neurodegenerative and Blood Diseases

Westchester County, New York (June 9, 2025) – The Westchester County Office of Economic Development and LifeSciencesNY recently hosted Frontiers in Diagnostics: Focus on Neurodegenerative and Blood Diseases, a day-long event focused on the future of diagnostic medicine, at Siemens Healthineers in Tarrytown. The event drew attendees from the life sciences, R&D, and business communities, and featured speakers from the Diagnostics business of Siemens Healthineers, Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Burke Neurological Institute, New York Medical College, Westchester Medical Center, New York Blood Center, and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins said: “The depth of research, trials and innovation taking place in Westchester County is nothing short of remarkable. Frontiers in Diagnostics provided a snapshot of how Westchester’s researchers, scientists, clinicians and innovators are preparing for the future of diagnostic medicine, and we are grateful to have so many sharp minds in our local life sciences community.”
Westchester County Director of Economic Development, Bridget Gibbons, said: “Westchester County’s life sciences ecosystem boasts more than 200 ventures and 20% of New York state’s private life sciences employment. We are immensely proud of the breadth of future-forward work that is being done to treat patients and cure diseases for patients in Westchester County and beyond.”

Highlights from the event included:
- A keynote address on how advanced diagnostics are leading the way to early detection and more effective treatments for conditions including Multiple Sclerosis, ALS, and Cancer;
- a session featuring Westchester County-based startups that are developing cutting edge approaches to the detection and treatment of Alzheimer’s Disease;
- a roundtable discussion focused on blood disorders that included perspectives from patient advocates, blood services experts, medical doctors, and research scientists; and,
- a networking opportunity bringing together life sciences leaders from across New York State.
