Corporations, Limited Liability Companies and Limited Partnerships

Limited Liability Company (LLC)

If you have established an LLC with New York State Department of State, Division of Corporations, the Westchester County Clerk can assist with designating the two publications in which you must publish the required notice of LLC formation.

Business Certificates (DBAs) – Mainly for Sole Proprietorships

Pursuant to Section 130 of the New York State General Business Law, if you are conducting any business in the County of Westchester under a name other than your own, and are not a corporation, limited partnership or limited liability company, you must file a Business Certificate indicating your Westchester County address in The County Clerk’s office.

 

Getting Started

Once you have determined that your desired business name is available, sole proprietors should submit an original of a notarized Business Certificate with the Office of the Westchester County Clerk.

 

Changing or Closing A Business

If the information provided in your Business Certificate changes, you must file an Amended Business Certificate with the Office of the Westchester County Clerk.
